Bespoke Vs Pre-designed

Over the course of the past year our homes have become our offices, classrooms, gyms and even restaurants, so it’s completely natural that a lot of people have started toying with the idea of extending their home. We’ve all been forced into spend significantly more time indoors than what some of us usually would, which has seen a boom in interest for extension options.

Since launching Habattach last year, there’s one comment that crops up time and time again and it usually sounds something like “LOVE the design, love the ethos behind it, it looks amazing and is exactly what we need… but can we just add a door here?” or “can we stack these and make a two storey one?” and while we relish in the enthusiasm for the product, the point of the current Hab offering is that it’s a fixed design, with a fixed cost and a fixed lead time!

Despite this we have actually been busy working away at some more, customisable selections and we can’t wait to reveal and launch this, but for now lets take a look at what we are offering and put our current pre-designed option up against a bespoke one.

Bespoke

For something to be bespoke, it means that a particular product or service has been tailored to a specific customer/user.

The best thing about going bespoke is also the most obvious one, you’ll get to design exactly what you want which can result in quite a unique result. You’re not confined to a set layout or room shape, if you decide that a curved wall would be cool, that’s up to your contractor to figure out how to do it!

Some of the negative you’ll come up against when going for a bespoke option though, include; spending the time to find contractor that is able to execute the design you want, the fluctuation of pricing when you add finer details that you don’t necessarily need and the question mark around the length of time it will take your contractor to plan and create your proposed extension.

Pre-designed

Taking a look at a pre-designed alternative, there are many benefits to going down this route.

With a lot of pre-designed or pre-fabricated extension options, you’ll find that because the design aspect of your project has already been taken care of, you don’t have to worry about arduous meetings with architects or contractors figuring out how the room will look. You’ll also discover that the build time is the same no matter the location which means your dream of more space in your home is achievable a lot sooner than you think!
In some cases, like with Habattach, you’ll also find that the cost of the product itself is fixed too, which means you’re able to keep an eye on your budget much easier than if you were to choose a bespoke method.

Of course, there are also some challenges that you’ll be faced with too and these will include; figuring out if the pre-designed extension is suited to your property – do you have the space for what has been designed? In a lot of cases, you won’t be able to tweak the design to fit what you’ve envisioned – in some circumstances, the product is the product.

So, as you can see there are clear pros and cons to either direction you decide to drive your space creating vision!

At Habattach we look for solutions rather than issues when it comes to helping you to decide which option to go for, that’s why we created these three products:

  • Hab 1 is our smallest modular home extension. Measuring 3m by 3m this beautiful home extension offers a neat and spacious addition to your home to be used as you please.
  • Hab 2 is our larger multi use modular home extension offering 6m x 4m of space, providing endless possibilities for use.
  • Hab 3 our mid-size multi-use modular home extension offers 5m x 3m of space, perfectly formed ready for you to make it yours.

We developed these options to try and meet the needs of the many, each Hab offers something the next does not, covering a wide base. Taking this into account, we have so much more to put into Habattach and we are really excited to get rolling with it and introduce the next stage of our Hab masterplan!
